STA of Duval County Donates Holiday Stockings and Essential Items to Sulzbacher; Helping Local Community Members in Need
Wall, N.J., Dec. 21, 2022 – Student Transportation of America (STA), an industry leader in student transportation, safety, and fleet services, has partnered with Sulzbacher, a homeless service organization in downtown Jacksonville to help community members in need this holiday season. Employees from STA’s Jacksonville terminals volunteered to collect vital hygiene products and snacks to fill more than 100 Christmas stockings. The stockings were delivered this morning, via school bus, to Sulzbacher’s Downtown campus, where people experiencing homelessness will have the opportunity to receive the items during Sulzbacher’s Christmas breakfast on December 25th.
“As a company, we truly are a family business that’s rooted in our commitment to the communities we serve, including those here in Duval County. With that in mind, it was a natural fit to get involved with supporting Sulzbacher. Their agency is doing incredible work to help those locally that are in need and experiencing a tough time this holiday,” said Pete Conway, Area General Manager for Student Transportation of America. “We wanted to do our part as an organization to help make a difference and fortunately, our employees and our union partners were on board and thrilled to get involved. It was great to see them come together to stuff the stockings as a team, and our company stepped up to donate $2,500 to help the organization purchase grocery gift cards. We hope this donation helps bring some smiles this holiday season.”
Since opening its doors in 1995, Sulzbacher has worked diligently to provide a continuum of care approach, addressing all aspects of homelessness including housing, income, and health care. Over the more than two decades since the agency opened, the services have grown to include street outreach, primary health, behavioral health and dental care for all ages, permanent housing, job placement, and early learning. The Downtown location offers health services, housing support, and most importantly, hope, to men, women, and families – 7 days a week. The upcoming Christmas breakfast will be held for Sulzbacher’s Downtown residents, as well as anyone in the community who is hungry.
“Partners like STA, help us to keep costs down and ensure we can best serve the community. Each year, it’s our tradition to prepare and put together a hot meal on Christmas morning – and we often supplement by providing our guests some samples of shampoo and conditioner, warm socks, deodorant, and other items that although seem small, make a real difference. When STA reached out with the idea of collecting these items and donating the holiday stockings, we were simply thrilled to hear it.” said Eileen Seuter, Sulzbacher’s Chief Development Officer.
STA has provided transportation services to Duval County Public School District students, K-12, for more than 14 years and is fully committed to providing safe, reliable, and cost-effective transportation solutions. To learn more, visit www.ridesta.com.
