Standard Bus Yukon, part of the STA Family of Companies, was proud to serve as the official transportation partner for the 2026 Arctic Winter Games, held March 8–15 in Whitehorse, Yukon.

The Arctic Winter Games brought together more than 2,000 athletes, coaches, and officials from across the arctic region, including Alaska, Northern Alberta, Greenland, Northern Québec, Nunavut, the Northwest Territories, Scandinavia, and the host, Yukon. Spanning 20 sports, the Games celebrated athletic achievement while highlighting Indigenous culture, community connection, and regional collaboration.

Supporting an event of this magnitude required extensive advance planning and execution of almost 50 buses, and close coordination among teams across multiple locations. Standard Bus Yukon delivered safe, reliable transportation services throughout the Games, supported by several employees from other western Canadian locations who travelled north to assist onsite. This cross‑regional collaboration reflects STA’s ability to mobilize experienced teams and resources to meet complex operational demands. Throughout the Games, Standard Bus provided continuous shuttle service between venues across the city, adapting quickly to shifting schedules, weather conditions, and road closures. The Closing Ceremonies required a similarly complex effort, as buses delivered athletes downtown before transitioning immediately into coordinated airport departures.

Reflecting on the effort, Les Cross, President of Student Transportation in Western Canada, commended the teams involved by saying, “I’m incredibly proud of our dedicated teams. Delivering an event of this scale takes significant planning, collaboration, and commitment, and our employees rose to the challenge at every stage. It’s clear this was a rewarding experience for our staff, and that translated directly into an exceptional experience for the passengers we served.
