Employee Spotlight

EE Spotlight-Tim Christian
Timothy Christian, Jr.
Safety & Compliance Manager
I enjoy the responsibility of helping keep our drivers safe and our precious cargo even safer.

Location: New York

How long have you been in the school transportation industry?
15 years

How long have you been with Student Transportation of America?
2 years

What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy the responsibility of helping keep our drivers safe and our precious cargo even safer with our professionally trained people daily.

What is something important about your job that others may not realize?
Safety starts with the people, and I get the unique opportunity to meet a wide variety of people through out the four locations that I serve to widen my views on the way I teach and how I mentor individuals.

Can you share a memorable story or experience from your time with STA?
I am a person that likes to donate my time to a good cause whether it be dressing in all pink for Breast Cancer or playing Santa Claus for non-profit organizations that give presents out to children. So coming into my first year at the Company I was the Terminal Manager of our Scotia location, and here I learned of a program we help and volunteer a bus for on Christmas Eve. My Dispatcher, Linda P., went on a search for a driver for the program and I told her immediately I would do it. Here I learned the extent of Extended STA Family values when I watched men and women from monitors to drivers to managers, and the Rich Miles and Dave Kinley’s of this company come together for a good cause and at that point, I knew I found a home in this company if people of this stature will do the same thing I do on a day like that without blinking an eye.

Every line of work has its ups and downs. What helps to motivate you during challenging times?
The exact word in this question, challenge. I look at each day as if it’s a challenge and I am always up for one to complete the mission or challenge set before me. Showing our people to keep moving no matter the circumstances, to never give up and to strive on.

What advice or encouragement would you offer to someone considering joining the STA Family?
Work hard, stay motivated there will always be ups and downs but to strive and achieve that goal of becoming a driver, monitor or a member of this family is the greatest pay off there is.

Words of praise for Timothy’s dedication…
In the relatively short time Tim has been a part of our team at Brown/STA, he has taken on progressively responsible roles in the area. In doing so, he understands that community involvement and benevolent service is incredibly important to our business. Tim takes that to heart, and it shows in the many benevolent things he does outside of work but still in the name of Brown/STA. He is a go-to and his presence on the team is incredibly important and appreciated.(Rich Miles, General Manager)
