How long have you been in the school transportation industry?
I have been in school bus transportation since 2007!

What do you enjoy most about your job?
There is a lot to list here, starts with the people. I enjoy visiting operations and seeing how they solve their puzzle. It’s the same basic components with people, assets, and customers, but after that there are different flavors of everything. Looking for commonality and helping work with locations to put their puzzle together is my favorite part. Then, in the Spring, the puzzle goes on the floor and start again that summer and look to improve the prior year!
What is something important about your job that others may not realize?
I get to work with a lot of different people in different roles in the organization, and all around North America. Having discussions with, or regarding, drivers and monitors, most if not all support functions, as well as working with leadership makes for a good sense of reality in our business and, then, can use that knowledge and information in helping to assist team members.
Every line of work has its ups and downs. What helps to motivate you during challenging times?
I think about what we’re doing and our mission → transporting children to and from school. And, alongside that, I truly feel that the field and our operations management is ‘my’ customer so need to move past challenges and look to help them. So, if I’m challenged and can refocus and do something to help them and make their role easier, the final product our mission of transporting children to and from school benefits.
What advice or encouragement would you offer to someone considering joining the STA Family?
Bring your brand and help the team. All have something to contribute and if you’re true to that and your skillset, you’ll help the team, and consequently you’ll be welcomed here as I, and plenty before me, have been.
