STA Celebrates the Grand Opening of its Kearsarge Bus Terminal, Introduces New Terminal Manager to Oversee Operations and Safety
KEARSARGE, New Hampshire (June 7, 2024) — Student Transportation of America (STA), a leading provider of student transportation, safety, and fleet services, announces the grand opening of its new bus terminal serving the Kearsarge Regional School District. STA employees, its district partners, and local first responders were invited to celebrate the new facility, located at 2345 Route 114 in Bradford, this morning with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and community barbecue. Remarks were given by both Brian Hemenway, STA’s Vice President of Operations for Northern New England, and Winfried Feneberg, Kearsarge Regional School District Superintendent.
In addition to showcasing the new terminal, STA introduced Erin Legendre, STA’s new Terminal Manager for the Kearsarge facility. Legendre leads the local terminal’s operations, staffing, routing, safety, and compliance.
“It goes without saying that we are beyond pleased to celebrate the grand opening of our new bus terminal. We appreciate the ongoing support from the Kearsarge community as we’ve built up to this moment and value our continued partnership with the District. This truly begins a new chapter for Kearsarge student transportation,” said Hemenway. “In addition to celebrating with our partners and local community, we are also delighted to ‘officially’ welcome Erin to our Kearsarge family’s new home. Her industry knowledge, managerial experience, and local community involvement make her a valuable addition to the local team.”
As the new Kearsarge terminal manager, Legendres’ responsibilities include working closely with the district to ensure seamless operations. Legendre joined STA’s Kearsarge team in January, supervising and coordinating all aspects of transportation for Kearsarge Regional School District students, including to and from school and special activities.
“The prospect of being able to make a tangible impact really resonated with me. I am excited about the opportunity to foster a better relationship between the community, the district, and our busing services here in Kearsarge,” said Legendre. “Despite being relatively new in my current role, I have worked for more than a decade in the transportation industry. From being a bus driver to a dispatcher to holding management roles, I understand the ins and outs—and I’m up for the challenge. It’s such a dynamic role.”
Legendre has a decade of diverse experience in the transportation industry. Beginning as a bus driver, she transitioned to become a dispatcher, gaining a ‘big picture’ understanding of the coordination required to run a successful transportation team. As the terminal manager, she combines her hands-on experience with her leadership skills to manage day-to-day operations.
As a parent with two children currently attending the Kearsarge Regional School District, she understands student and guardian needs well. Legendre is hosting office hours that align with the operational hours of all buses and is determined to offer prompt responses to calls, texts, or emails from parents and guardians regarding routing concerns.
STA is recruiting additional team members to support the Kearsarge terminal, with several open positions, including area bus drivers. STA offers comprehensive paid training for those new to the industry, combining classroom and behind-the-wheel training. Legendre would like to prioritize candidates with a strong work ethic, a commitment to safety, and a positive outlook.
