What do you enjoy most about your job?
Learning how to deal with different and difficult situations, also learning how to improve my responses/decisions the next time something arises.
What is something important about your job that others may not realize?
I bet many of my staff do not realize I come in at 4:30am every day to vacuum, mop, turn the heat up, clean the bathrooms, etc., so that they can enter a clean and warm terminal first thing. Coming in that early makes it so I can cover the day’s work before my staff arrives so it makes me available to my staff in the mornings for questions, concerns or just chit chat and that I can be out and present and not behind closed doors behind a desk.
Every line of work has its ups and downs. What helps to motivate you during challenging times?
The fact that my customer and the community depend on me and my staff for more than just transportation. Failing isn’t an option here in Bedford.
What advice or encouragement would you offer to someone considering joining the STA Family?
Just do it. LOL! You never know where a temporary job out of high school will lead, you don’t know the lifelong friends and connections that will come along with it, the experiences, the joys, smiles and the laughter. In the end it is so worth it.
